GE has operated in Canada for over 100 years, beginning with the manufacturing facility in Peterborough, Ontario founded by Thomas Edison in 1892. Today, GE Canada has numerous major manufacturing facilities, sales and services locations across the country.

GE Canada and Actua "A Partnership to Fuel Imagination at Play"
GE Canada is a National Cornerstone Partner with Actua, a national organization that provides young Canadians with positive hands on learning experiences in science, engineering and technology. Actua has a 15-year history of delivering summer camps, workshops, and community programs to youth across the country. The organization currently reaches 240,000 young people in 450 communities through member organizations many located in universities across Canada.

General Electric Canada Headquarters is first to receive LEED-EB Certification in Ontario
First site in Ontario and Second Business in Canada to achieve LEED-EB Certification General Electric Canada, Meadowvale Headquarters was awarded LEED-EB Certification through the US Green Building Council (USGBC) making it the FIRST GE site globally, the FIRST in Ontario and the second business in Canada to achieve EB Certification.
LEED is a Green Building Rating System designed to encourage and accelerate global adoption for achieving sustainability of new and existing green buildings. This rating system provides owner and operators with measurement tools for benchmarking the buildings performance impact on the environment while identifying areas of improvement. This LEED-EB designation demonstrates General Electric’s commitment to surrounding communities, ecomagination and to its employees. GE Employees are working in the first recognized Green Existing Building within the LEED USGBC environment.
